Privacy policy

Last updated

Transmit IPTV is built to need as little of your data as possible. The app needs no account, and your playlists stay on your TV. This policy explains what the app keeps on your TV, what the website collects, and the rights you have.

Who we are

Transmit IPTV (“we”, “us”) makes the Transmit IPTV app and runs the website at www.transmitiptv.app. We are the controller for the personal data described in this policy.

For anything about privacy, email support@transmitiptv.app.

What stays on your TV

You don’t need an account to use Transmit IPTV. Everything you set up in the app is stored on your TV:

  • your playlists, M3U links and Xtream Codes logins
  • your settings and favourites
  • your parental PIN

None of it is sent to our servers. Because we never receive it, we can’t see it, recover it or delete it for you. To remove it, clear the app’s data or uninstall the app.

When you watch, the app connects straight from your TV to your provider and to the programme guide (EPG) sources you added. We are not in between. Your provider receives the requests your TV makes, such as your IP address and what you stream, and handles them under its own privacy policy.

You install Transmit IPTV from Google Play. Google handles that under its own terms and privacy policy.

What the website collects

Invite requests

If you request an invite, the form sends your email address to the form service we use to collect invite requests. Like any web request, it also carries technical details such as your IP address.

We use your email address to tell you when your place in the beta opens and to send you what you need to join. To give you access, we may add it to the tester list for Transmit IPTV on Google Play. We don’t sell it or use it for anything else.

Emails you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write. We use them to reply to you.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs when you visit the website. They include your IP address, the page you asked for, the date and time, and your browser and device type.

Google Fonts

The website loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. To do that, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address and details about your browser. Google handles that data under its own privacy policy.

No cookies, no analytics

The website sets no cookies. It runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.

The GDPR requires a legal basis for each use of personal data. Ours are:

  • Invite requests: your consent, which you give when you send the form. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us, and we’ll delete your address.
  • Emails you send us: our legitimate interest in answering your questions and fixing problems you report.
  • Server logs: our legitimate interest in keeping the website running, secure and free of errors.
  • Google Fonts: our legitimate interest in showing the website in its own typefaces.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell personal data. We share it only with service providers that handle it for us:

  • our hosting provider, which serves the website and keeps the server logs
  • the form service we use to collect invite requests, which stores your email address

They may only use the data to provide their service to us. Google receives data directly from your browser when the website loads its fonts, and from us if we add you to the beta’s tester list.

We may also disclose personal data when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Invite requests: until the closed beta ends, or sooner if you ask us to delete your email address.
  • Emails you send us: as long as we need them to deal with your question or report.
  • Server logs: a short time. Our hosting provider deletes them automatically.

International transfers

Our hosting provider, our form service and Google may process data outside Norway and the European Economic Area (EEA), for example in the United States. When they do, the transfer relies on a safeguard that the GDPR allows, such as a European Commission adequacy decision or the Commission’s standard contractual clauses. Email us if you want details.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it
  • have inaccurate data corrected
  • have your data deleted
  • restrict how we use your data
  • object to how we use data based on our legitimate interests
  • receive the data you gave us in a portable format
  • withdraw your consent at any time. This doesn’t affect how we used your data before you withdrew it.

To use any of these rights, email support@transmitiptv.app. We’ll reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm that the request comes from the email address it concerns.

The data stored in the app never reaches us, so you control it directly on your TV.

If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) at datatilsynet.no or to your local data protection authority.

Children

The website and the invite form are not aimed at children. We don’t knowingly collect email addresses from anyone under 13. If you think a child has sent us their email address, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security

We keep as little personal data as we can: your email address if you request an invite or write to us, and short-lived server logs. The website is served over HTTPS, and only the people who run the beta can see invite requests.

No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your data, we’ll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this policy when we change how we handle data, for example when the beta ends. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant and we have your email address, we’ll also tell you by email before it takes effect.
